Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. Currently, the main goals of clinical treatment are to alleviate symptoms and slow down disease progression. However, there is currently no effective clinical treatment for hereditary cardiovascular diseases caused by genetic mutations. The emergence and application of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) and gene editing have provided immense hope for research and treatment of these diseases. Our team has successfully developed an efficient inducible spCas9 gene editing system in hPSCs, achieving a knockout efficiency of over 90% for the target genes. Additionally, we have also created an efficient inducible base editing system, with an introduction efficiency of over 80% for point mutations. Using this advanced editing system, we have successfully generated a Barth Syndrome hPSCs-CMs model by knocking out the Tafazzin gene. This in vitro cell model accurately recapitulates the severe Ca²⁺ handling abnormalities and impaired contraction force observed in Barth Syndrome patients with arrhythmia and dilated cardiomyopathy in clinical settings. Through our research, we have discovered that the ROS-CaMKII-RYR2 pathway is over-activated in Barth Syndrome hPSCs-CMs. Furthermore, we have successfully restored the disease phenotypes by blocking this pathway. Lastly, we have conducted in vivo gene therapy research using the base editor on transgenic mice with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and hereditary arrhythmias respectively. This research has allowed us to systematically evaluate the therapeutic efficacy and identify the correlation between efficacy and editing rate. These findings provide crucial theoretical basis and data support for the future clinical translation of gene therapy.

Dr. Xujie Liu works in Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences Fuwai Hospital Shenzhen. He is a high-level overseas talent under the Peacock Plan in Shenzhen. He obtained a doctoral degree from Peking University Health Science Center and completed postdoctoral training at Boston Children's Hospital, affiliated with Harvard Medical School. Currently, his research focuses on mitochondrial cardiomyopathy, cardiac organoids, gene editing therapy. Prof. Liu has been the principal investigator for several projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Youth Fund), Shenzhen Basic Research General Project, and Chongqing Natural Science General Project. As a first/corresponding author, he has published more than 10 SCI papers in high-impact journals such as Circulation and Circulation Research.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to extract nano-exosomes from Aloe vera bark callus and validate their effects on collagen synthesis and skin corneous improvement. Methods: Human dermal fibroblast (HDF) was used to validate collagen synthesis, while HaCaT cells, a human keratin cell line, were used to verify absorption capability. The Folin–Denis’s technique was used to determine the polyphenol content. In addition, lotion formulations and skin application experiments were also carried out. Results: Nano-exosomes with size ranging 50–150 nm were successfully isolated from Aloe vera bark callus (alosomes). Alosomes produced 22.11% more collagen in HDF than Aloe vera bark extract at 1.0% concentration. In the cytotoxicity test, 80% of cells were survived at concentrations of 1% or less. After one hour, a considerable quantity was transported into the cytoplasm of HaCaT cells. The polyphenol concentration was four times that of Aloe vera bark extract. Skin tests using alosome-containing lotion demonstrated that skin surface, hydration, and elasticity were improved after 4 weeks. Moisture contents of the stratum corneum and dermis layer were improved, whereas moisture content of corneous was reduced after 4 weeks. Conclusion: The skin-improving effect of nano-exosomes derived from Aloe vera bark callus is shown in this study, indicating its potential as a functional cosmetic raw material.

Dr. Dong-Myong Kim is a Professor at the KJMbio R&D Center, Seoul National University, Korea. He completed his doctoral studies in Biophysical Chemistry at the University of Tsukuba from March 1991 to February 1992. He also earned his Ph.D. in Biological Engineering from Seoul National University, graduating in February 2001. He completed his post-doctoral research in Nanobiotechnology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from February 2004 to February 2006. Currently, he serves as a Professor and Center Director at the Seoul National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, a role he has held since October 2010. Dr. Dong-Myong Kim's research primarily focuses on the convergence of various fields within the bio domain, with particular emphasis on genes and cell biology. He has published 195 papers in renowned SCI(E) journals and applied for and registered 68 patents. He has also successfully implemented 52 projects, including government assignments, and has been honored with the Presidential Award, in addition to twelve other prestigious awards.

Objective: (1) To investigate the effect of and Acupuncture on brain plasticity and motor development in children with cerebral palsy. Investigate effect on mechanism of apoptosis of brain nerve cells, regulating the expression of neurotrophic factors, promoting the remodeling of nerve synaptic structure and motor development in young rats with cerebral palsy. (2) To evaluate the effect and mechanism of acupuncture on cerebral palsy. (3) The nerve repair effect of acupuncture on cerebral palsy. Methods: In this study, 146 cases of brain injury and 1078 cases of cerebral palsy were included by randomized controlled study with ICF gross motor function measure, Peabody fine motor function, Gesell, muscle tension, joint activity, activity of daily living transcranial doppler, skull B ultrasound, Brain Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging MRI, Positron Emission Tomography SPECT, Diffusion tensor tractography evaluation method. Results: The recovery rate of extracellular space (92.3%) was significantly higher than that of the control group (70.8%) (P <0.05), Transcranial Doppler, TCD total efficiency (79.3%) was significantly higher than that in the control group (51.8%) (P <0.05). Acupuncture to promoting the development of neurological and cognitive movement under 6 months children, effectively reduce the neurological sequelae. The total effective rate of the children with cerebral palsy was 87% in the acupuncture group, which was significantly higher than that of the control group (P <0.01). The total effective rate of Brain MRI was 59.55% in the acupuncture group and 13.25% higher than that in the control group (P <0.01). The total effective rate was 91.3% in the 1 year follow-up group, which was significantly higher than that in the control group (P <0.01). The FA value of white matter fiber bundle was significantly higher than that of acupuncture at 60 times (P <0.05). The recovery rate of ultrasonous brain injury (86.7%) in acupuncture group was significantly higher than that in control group (64.4%) (P <0.05). The recovery rate of brain SPECT in acupuncture group was 96.4%, which was significantly higher than that in the control group (P <0.01). Conclusion: Acupuncture rehabilitation not only promote the development of white matter and gray matter in children with cerebral palsy, but also promote the brain function of children with cerebral palsy remodeling and compensation, and promote social adaptation, language and other cognitive function development, children with cerebral palsy movement and fine motor function development and recovery, improve the children's self-care ability.

Polyolefin plastics, such as polyethylene (PE) and polystyrene (PS), are the most widely used synthetic plastics in our daily life. However, the chemical structure of polyolefin plastics is composed of carbon-carbon (C-C) bonds, which is extremely stable and makes polyolefin plastics recalcitrant to degradation. The growing accumulation of plastic waste has caused serious environmental pollution and has become a global environmental concern. In this study, we isolated a unique Raoultella sp. DY₂₄₁₅ strain from petroleum-contaminated soil that can degrade PE and PS film via the high-throughput screening (HTS). Nevertheless, the cooperative interaction of the chemo and bioprocess could achieve the value-addition of these artificial polymers.

This presentation starts with a short introduction to the characteristics of deep-sea underwater operations with important problems in engineering and then gives the developments of a Modeling & Simulation-based method for previewing operation plans and dynamic analysis with their applications in various actual operations. A distributed co-simulation architecture is presented in the base of available realize the integrated management of dynamic information and the reliable extension of interactive simulation in the process of simulating operations. The key technology of modeling and visualizing the rigid-flexible multi-body coupling dynamics based on the multi-body dynamics, computational dynamics, and the real-time rendering method is discussed which can realize the accurate real-time solution of multi-body coupling operations. The system composition of the ROV will be introduced which had obtained the international Class-A standard certification of the China Classification Society. The selected examples include the installation simulation of the "Deep Sea No. 1" semi-submersible platform and underwater oil and gas production equipment; the simulation of SCR monitoring equipment installation in Lingshui 17-2 oilfield. The simulation results are compared with the actual operation results to demonstrate the deep-sea underwater operation simulation technology.

Dr. Yingfei Zan is an associate professor and a doctoral supervisor of Harbin Engineering University, serving as the deputy director of the Institute of Overall Technology Research of Naval Architecture and Ocean Platforms, the deputy head of the Key Laboratory of Polar Equipment and Technology of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, and member of the Simulation Technology Committee of China Industrial Cooperation Association. He has presided over 20 provincial and ministerial-level projects as the project leader, focusing on the intelligent simulation and digitalization of ship and ocean engineering. He has constructed the top frame of joint operation simulation of multiple ocean engineering equipment, made breakthrough in multi-system coupling dynamics algorithm for marine engineering equipment, developed a pedigree of simulation equipment for offshore engineering installation operations, and realized the full coverage of semi-physical simulation of mainstream ocean engineering equipment. He has published over 50 academic papers and two books, and has applied / been authorized more than 30 invention patents and more than 20 software copyrights. He has won three first prizes, a second prize and a third prize of provincial and ministerial Awards for Progress in Science and Technology, and an Outstanding Patent Invention Award in naval architecture and ocean engineering industry.

Supersonic separation is a clean technology applied in gas processing and treatment. At present, it is mainly used for natural gas liquefaction and dehumidification, and has achieved good results in many natural gas fields. In this technology, the characteristics of cyclone separation, shock wave pressurization, phase transition are concentrated in a separation equipment with compact structure and small volume, called supersonic separator, which is the core equipment of supersonic separation technology. Excitingly, previous investigations have found that Laval nozzles are able to condense CO₂ from power plants into liquids, thereby separating CO₂, which means that these investigations have discovered a potential CO₂ capture approach. Supersonic separation does not require complex membrane materials, nor does it require adsorbents and absorbents. It can spontaneously separate CO₂ from flue gas under the drive of pressure. In addition to the above advantages, supersonic separators also have the advantages of stable operation, small size, low maintenance and operation cost and is a new technology in the field of carbon capture.

Dr. Zhu Huang is associate professor in Xi’an Jiaotong University, he got his doctoral degree from Xi’an Jiaotong University, before he started the postdoctoral research at DAMTP in Cambridge University and CTR in Stanford University. His research interests include the supersonic flows of carbon capture, flow transition and turbulence simulations, and optimizations. He has published more 40 journal papers on the research topics.

GNSS reflectometry (GNSS-R) is an emerging remote sensing technology, which has been exploited to sense a range of environmental parameters. In this presentation, we will talk about the fundamentals of this technology. A number of satellite missions in the past 20 years will be briefly described, so are several airborne experiments conducted by our group. We will also show our recent research results related to GNSS-R.

Dr. Kegen Yu received a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Sydney, Australia, in 2003. He was with the Jiangxi Geological and Mineral Bureau, Nanchang, China; Nanchang University, Nanchang; the University of Oulu, Oulu, Finland; the CSIRO ICT Center, Sydney; Macquarie University, Sydney; the University of New South Wales, Sydney; and Wuhan University, Wuhan, China. He is currently a Professor at the China University of Mining and Technology, Xuzhou, China. He has coauthored the book Ground-Based Wireless Positioning (Wiley and IEEE Press, 2009) and another book Wireless Positioning: Principles and Practice (Springer, 2018), and has authored the book Theory and Practice of GNSS Reflectometry (Springer, 2021). He has authored or co-authored more than 150 refereed journal articles, including more than 60 IEEE journal articles. He was ranked as the World’s Top 2% most-cited scientist in 2022 by Stanford University. His research interests include GNSS-R, wireless positioning, signal processing, and remote sensing. Dr. Yu served on the Editorial Board of EURASIP JASP, IEEE TAES, and IEEE TVT from 2013 to 2017. He is also on the Editorial Board of IEEE ACCESS. He edited the book Positioning and Navigation in Complex Environments (IGI Global, 2018) and another book Indoor Positioning and Navigation (Science Press, 2018). Community parks play a crucial role in mitigating pollution, carbon emissions and promoting sustainable development in urban areas, since they are a regulatory component of urban ecology. By screening the data of a large number of community parks in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China, the study extracted six typical indicators of spatial planform, three-dimensional form, and landscape pattern of green space. It then conducted studies on PM_2.5 reduction (∆_PM2.5) and CO₂ reduction (∆_CO2) in the spring. We explored the effects of the spatial pattern of green spaces on PM_2.5 and CO₂ reduction using Pearson's correlation analysis and linear regression methods, optimizing the extraction of significant correlation indicators and running simulations to analyze the formation and maintenance mechanisms of the microclimate environment in community parks. The results demonstrate that: (1) The area of green space patches, the perimeter of patches, and the area-weighted shape index are significantly and positively connected with ∆_PM2.5& ∆_CO2 among the indicators of green space in various spatial patterns. When the size of green space patches in community parks is between 2 and 3 hm2, the reduction impact is noticeable. (2) In various sized community park green spaces, there is a boundary impact for PM_2.5 and CO₂ reduction, and the boundary distance is positively connected with the patch area. According to the outcomes of the optimization simulation, there is a shared maximum reduction boundary of 264m for PM_2.5 and CO₂ at the most significant reduction effect of 2-3hm2 scale. (3) An overall pattern of enclosed plantings > distributed plantings > row plantings can be seen in the effects of various green space plannings on PM_2.5 and CO₂. (4) There is a positive synergy between the reduction of PM_2.5 and CO₂, particularly as the area grows. The synergistic impact is more pronounced, and the reductions of PM_2.5 and CO₂ both peak at the same distance. The study's conclusions support the sustainable growth of urban green space planning from an urban design perspective and further the concept of green space landscape pattern in urban multi-scale space.

In order to secure our nation's future, it is essential that our students are equipped with Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) to thrive in the 21st century, excel in the workforce, and compete globally. Science education at the school level plays a critical role in achieving this goal. However, the introduction of HOTS in science education has posed challenges for students. Learning and assessment tasks have become more demanding, leaving many ordinary secondary school students struggling to achieve good grades, let alone excelling in the subject. Consequently, they often feel demotivated and hesitant to pursue higher-level science classes. Despite the implementation of various HOTS teaching and learning strategies over the years, the objective of fostering HOTS in students appears to have fallen short. Unsatisfactory science assessment results, particularly among ordinary secondary school students, indicate an inherent flaw in the current approach. This suggests that while teaching methods have focused on developing HOTS, there has been a neglect of students' acceptance and understanding of these skills. Questions arise regarding the suitability of HOTS techniques for all students, especially those in ordinary schools, who make up the majority. How do students with varying abilities handle HOTS tasks, particularly in the context of science learning and assessment? Dealing with HOTS tasks extends beyond mere thinking; it also encompasses cognitive, autonomic, and EEG activities that influence students' acceptance or rejection of these tasks. As a result, research has been conducted to investigate how ordinary secondary school students respond to science Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) tasks, examining their cognitive, autonomic, and Electroencephalography (EEG) reactions. This research seeks to shed light on the challenges students face in embracing and engaging with HOTS, particularly in the field of science education.

Dr. Salmiza Saleh currently works as a senior lecturer at the School of Educational Studies, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and is responsible for several courses in science education, for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. She is also a researcher in Physics Education, Science and Mathematics Education, and Brain-Based Education, coordinates research, and supervises postgraduate students in these areas. She has presented and published articles widely in academic conferences and scholarly journals as well as has authored and coauthored several chapters (in book) and books related to her areas of expertise. She once held the position of Deputy Dean, Science Education Program Chairperson, and Doctor of Education Program Chairperson at the School of Educational Studies, Universiti Sains Malaysia.

Modular building is a form of highly integrated prefabricated building. It has been a development direction of industrial buildings owing to its high prefabrication rates, efficient construction, energy saving and environmental protection. Traditional modular reinforced concrete buildings adopt wet connections and bring about several problems, such as long construction period, difficult inspection of connection quality, difficult to remove and reuse, and poor seismic resistance. Therefore, the wet connection has significantly restricted the development of modular buildings. This thesis studies the modular units and its connection forms for modular shear wall structures. A connection joints ease of installation and removal for frame modules is designed, and a modular shear wall system with prefabricated energy dissipation and vibration damping components is proposed. The mechanical properties of frame modules and the seismic performance of the modular shear wall system are also studied. The main work and findings include: Determine the module types and connection methods of modular frame shear wall structure systems. Analyze the mechanical properties and optimize the structural design of the connection joints as well as composite columns of the frame module. Study the seismic performance of modular frame shear wall structure systems. The results show that the modular structure with prefabricated energy dissipation and damping component module can reduce the damage of concrete frame module and shear wall, as well as improve the overall seismic performance and rapid recovery ability, thus ensuring the normal use function of the structure.

Dr. Zuohua Li has long been engaged in research on high-rise building structural systems, high-performance prefabricated structural systems, intelligent testing and monitoring of engineering structures, and intelligent comprehensive utilization of construction waste. He has led three National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, eight provincial and municipal projects, and served as the sub-project leader for one National Natural Science Foundation of China major scientific instrument development project and one major project. He has also participated in one National Natural Science Foundation of China major international (Sino-US) cooperative research project. His research results have been directly applied to dozens of important projects, such as Jingji 100, Shenzhen Aerospace Sci-Tech Square, and Shenzhen Dashi Intelligent Building. As a core member, Dr. Zuohua Li has received the First Prize of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (second place), the First Prize of Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award (third place), and two First Prizes of Shenzhen Science and Technology Progress Award. In addition, he has received financial support from the National Publishing Fund to publish a monograph and have applied for and been granted over 50 invention patents.

Precisely tailoring the electronic structure and surface chemistry of metal-free covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs) for efficient photoactivation of oxyanions is environmentally desirable but still challenging. Of interest to us in this work was to construct artificial defective accumulation sites into a CTF network (CTF-SDx) to synchronously modulate both thermodynamic (e.g., band structure) and kinetic (e.g., charge separation/transfer/utilization and surface adsorption) behaviors and probe how the transformation affected the subsequent activation mechanism of peroxymonosulfate (PMS). With incorporation of terminal cyano (-CN) groups and boron (B) dopants, the delocalized CTF-SD underwent a narrowed electronic energy gap for increased optical absorption as well as a downshifted valence band position for enhanced oxidation capacity. Moreover, the localized charge accumulation regions induced by the electron-withdrawing -CN groups facilitated the exciton dissociation process, while the adjacent electron-deficient areas enabled strong affinity toward PMS molecules. All these merits impelled the photoactivation reaction with PMS, and a 15-fold enhancement of bisphenol-A (BPA) removal was found in the CTF-SD2/PMS/vis/system compared with the corresponding pristine CTF system. Mechanistic investigations demonstrated that this system decomposed organics primarily through a singlet oxygen-mediated nonradical process, which originated from PMS oxidative activation over photoinduced holes initiated by an electron transfer process, thereby opening a new avenue for designing an efficient PMS activation strategy for the selective oxidation of organic pollutants.

Dr. Tao Zeng is a Professor at Zhejiang University of Technology in China. He obtained his Ph.D. in Environmental Science from the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2015. Subsequently, he pursued a postdoctoral research position at Hong Kong Baptist University in 2018. Professor Zeng's research is primarily focused on environmental nanotechnology, advanced water purification technologies, and the treatment of emerging contaminants. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers in renowned journals such as Environmental Science & Technology, Applied Catalysis B: Environmental, and Chemical Communications, among others, garnered over 2300 citations. He was honored with the Distinguished Young Scholar award by the Natural Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province in 2021.

The increase in activity of the two-pore potassium-leak channel Kcnk5b maintains allometric juvenile growth of adult zebrafish appendages. However, it remains unknown how this channel maintains allometric growth and how its bioelectric activity is regulated to scale these anatomical structures. We show the activation of Kcnk5b is sufficient to activate several genes that are part of important development programs. We provide in vivo transplantation evidence that the activation of gene transcription is cell autonomous. We also show that Kcnk5b will induce the expression of different subsets of the tested developmental genes in different cultured mammalian cell lines, which may explain how one electrophysiological stimulus can coordinately regulate the allometric growth of diverse populations of cells in the fin that use different developmental signals. We also provide evidence that the post-translational modification of serine 345 in Kcnk5b by calcineurin regulates channel activity to scale the fin. Thus, we show how an endogenous bioelectric mechanism can be regulated to promote coordinated developmental signaling to generate and scale a vertebrate appendage.

Dr. Christopher L. Antos obtained his B.S. Degrees from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1993. He then went to Freiburg, Germany on a Fulbright Scholarship and worked in the Laboratory of Dr. Rolf Kemler at the Max-Planck Institute for Immunology. In 1996, Dr. Antos started his Ph.D. work in the laboratory of Dr. Eric Olson at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. After finishing his Ph.D., he then completed his post-doctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard at the Max-Planck Institute for Developmental Biology in Tübingen, Germany from 2003-2007. In 2008, Dr. Antos established his own laboratory as faculty at the DFG-Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden of the Technische Universit?t Dresden. Dr. Antos joined ShanghaiTech University as an Associate Professor in Dec. 2016.

To analyze the relationship between prognosis and immune cell infiltration in non-microsatellite instability high (non-MSI-H) colorectal cancer. Non-MSI-H colorectal cancer patients were enrolled from TCGA database. Clinical characteristics correlated to overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) were analyzed by univariate and multivariate analysis. Risk models of OS and DFS were further calculated by stepwise regression analysis. Relationship of immune cell infiltration with tumor TNM stage and OS and DFS was evaluated. Immune signaling pathways of CD4 T cells and macrophages were detected by single-cell sequencing. Differential expression genes (DEGs) were calculated and its corresponding protein expressions were assessed. Non-MSI-H colorectal cancer patients could be classified into a high risk and a low risk group with significantly different OS and DFS. Between the two groups, CD4 T cell infiltration was marked higher in the low risk group, and innate immune cell infiltration (macrophages, mast cells and NK cells) was associated with OS and DFS. Single-cell sequencing indicated that CD4 T cells were suppressive but macrophages were relatively stimulated in tumor microenvironment. CDH8 was determined to be one of the DEGs and its high protein expression was proved by immunohistochemical staining. Furthermore, CDH8 expression was correlated to CD4 T cell and macrophage infiltration as well as OS and DFS in non-MSI-H colorectal cancer patients. So, our study indicated that non-MSI-H colorectal cancer could be classified into different groups according to OS and DFS. Re-stimulating CD4 T cell function and targeting CDH8 of tumor cells might provide a new idea of immunotherapy in the future.

Enterocins are ribosomally synthesized antimicrobial peptides produced by Enterococcus faecalis and they show the characteristics of salt tolerance, high temperature tolerance and easy hydrolysis by protease. Enterocins generally show a better antimicrobial effect against close relative species and they have high specificity for their target bacteria. Therefore, the inhibitory effect of Enterocin on the remnants of specific pathogenic bacteria is of great significance for food safe and regulation of intestinal diseases. In this study, a bacteriocin produced by Ent. faecalis DH9003 that can inhibit common food-borne pathogens were screened from goat milk, and their molecular and biochemical characteristics were analyzed. The molecular of the purified Enterocin Y3 was 2.0kDa by analysis of MALDI-TOF-MS. The novel bacteriocin (termed as Enterocin Y3) possessed antimicrobial abilities to dissolve cell wall membrane, and lead to leakage of content of the cells by observing the scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy.

Dr. Hai Chi is an Associate Professor in Lab. of Seafood Safety Control and Processing at East China Sea Fisheries Research Institute, Chinese Academy Fishery Sciences, Shanghai, China. Dr. Hai Chi was financially supported by China Scholarship Council, and conducted his Ph.D. work at Lab. of Molecular Microbiology at Norwegian University of Life Sciences in 2012. On completion of his Ph.D., Dr. Hai Chi now mainly focuses on the food quality and safety control, foodborne pathogens monitoring and inhibition, antimicrobial peptides (bacteriocins) and their applications on the seafood and aquaculture. Till now, Dr. Hai Chi has published approximately 100 academic papers, 8patents in China, and obtained scientific rewards from Shanghai and National bureau of oceanography.

Using a corporate-level dataset of Chinese listed companies, we studied the effect of the performance aspiration gap on stock price crash risk and the moderate effect of marketization and political connection. Our results show that: when the actual performance is below aspiration level, the aspiration gap will prompt managers to take risky behaviors and information manipulation behaviors, which will increase the stock price crash risk. In the two types of risky behaviors, the effect of aspiration gap on stock price crash through illegal risky behaviors is greater. The impact of aspiration loss on stock price crash risk is affected by the degree of marketization and political connection. Marketization and political connection negatively moderate the association between aspiration loss and stock price crash risk. When the actual performance is above aspiration level, managers did not have the motivation to adopt or evade the risk-taking behaviors. The aspiration surplus has no significant impact on stock price crash risk. We introduce the performance aspiration gap into the study of stock price crash risk, enriching and expanding the research on the economic consequences of performance aspiration gap and the affecting factors of stock price crash risk, providing a new explanation for our deepen understanding of the stock price crash risk in China's capital market.

Previous studies indicate the relationship between digitalization and regional innovation may be influenced by the interplay of innovation elements. We expand on this perspective by developing a configurational model underlying the mechanism of elements fit, in which digitalization empowers regional innovation when it supports an innovation orientation appropriate for economic development and government support. Utilizing the fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis of a dataset of 31 provinces in China, we derive configurations for digitalization empowering regional innovation. Results reveal that digitalization can empower regional innovation in underdeveloped and weak government-supported environments by supporting basic research orientation. In developed and government-supported environments, either a high or low level of digitalization is effective for an appropriate innovation orientation. The core argument of this study is that the relationship between digitalization and regional innovation is dependent on the elements fit among innovation resources, environmental contexts, and innovation orientation, contributing to a more rigorous and configurational innovation ecosystem theory.

Dr. Weiwei Wu is a Professor at Harbin Institute of Technology, China, where he received his Ph.D., master’s and bachelor’s degrees in management. He was a SPURS (Special Program for Urban and Regional Studies) fellow from 2011 to 2012 at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, and has served as the consultant of Asian Development Bank (ADB) since 2021. Target trial emulation, using observational data to emulate a target trial, applies the study design principles of randomized trials to observational studies that aim to estimate the causal inference of intervention studies. The advantage of target trial emulation is that observational data is used to emulate a target trial when it is not appropriate to conduct randomized controlled trials. Target trial emulation can control bias caused by the design of observational studies, and improve the effectiveness of causal inference from observational data. This speech introduces the methodological framework and key methodological points for implementing target trial emulation, and analyzes the feasibility and advantages of the application of target trial emulation in the field of traditional Chinese medicine.

Dr. Zhaolan Liu is a Professor in the Centre for Evidence-Based Chinese Medicine, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine where she has been a faculty member since 2009. Dr. Zhaolan Liu completed her Ph.D. at Fudan University and her undergraduate studies at Shandong University. Her research interests lie in the area of Evidence-based Chinese medicine, ranging from theory to design to implementation.

The Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) global pandemic is characterized by a large number of people infected and multiple mutations of the virus; the sequelae of COVID-19 with more symptoms and longer duration affect multiple tissues and organs of the human body, with higher rates of anxiety, depression and other neurological problems happened 12 months after discharge from hospital, and with unknown mechanisms of fatigue and muscle weakness. These characteristics make it impossible for the pharmaceutical industry to develop drugs against targets, so it is necessary to seek effective therapies from traditional medicine. Chinese herbal medicine has long been a way for people to eat. Plant food with the same origin of medicine and food, regulates human balance and improves human self-healing ability. Plant food has high nutrition and improves human immunity. Adequate and balanced nutrition is essential for managing infections. The COVID-19 pandemic can lead to greater malnutrition, and studies have found that a plant-based diet for COVID-19 patients aged 65 or older during the pandemic reduces disease severity. Therefore, under the influence of COVID-19 for several years, the value of plant food nutrition in the prevention and control of diseases, especially large-scale infectious diseases, may be widely recognized, and the systemic change from the pharmaceutical industry to plant food nutrition may take place in the future.

Depression is prevalent, costly and a major cause of disability and death worldwide. The onset of depression often occurs early in life, during teen or young adult years. The onset of depression during adolescence is associated with increased risk for Major depression during adulthood, substance dependence, educational underachievement, unemployment, and early parenthood. The most severe consequence of untreated depression is suicide. Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among adolescents and has increased by 20% in the past decade. A school-based depression education program developed in 2010 by a team of psychiatrists and psychiatric nurses from The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, has been implemented in 53 schools throughout the China of Chongqing with over 200,000 high school and university students. Screening for mental health problems in university and middle schools in China, and establishing a basic database of adolescent emotion and suicide information. The study found that depression and anxiety were the most common psychological problems reported by adolescents, and family satisfaction also had a direct impact on the emotional state of adolescents. Among adolescents who had committed suicide or self-harm, the scores of impulsivity and aggression were higher, which were important risk factors for suicide. The suicidality risk assessment model was established based on the mental health questionnaire information and other related information reported by the assessor. The model had a strong discrimination ability and good sensitivity and specificity. The model can provide hierarchical early warning for individuals and populations, and provide important reference for timely intervention. We further fitted the approximate relationship between the risk score of suicidality, and visually presented the approximate relationship as the risk level color scale in the way of gradual color scale for further individual and group warning. Based on the analysis of the mental health status of college students screened and the risk factors of college students with suicide attempts, a "medical-school-family joint mental illness and suicide prevention and intervention model" was established. Campus psychological services and family resources were integrated with local mental health institutions to ensure that students in need can receive timely, professional, targeted and personalized intervention. The rate of reported suicide attempts before intervention was 1.36% in the first year and 0.98% in the second year. Rates of reported suicide attempts have decreased.

Dr. Haitang Qiu is currently a doctor and researcher at The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing, China. She received a Master's degree and a Ph.D. degree in Psychiatry in Chongqing Medical University in 2008 and 2020. She used to be a Visiting scholar of university of Pittsburgh. Now she is an Associate Professor, postgraduate tutor, National second-level psychological counselor; Director of Chongqing Mental Health Association; Vice Chairman of the Special Committee of Psychological Counseling and Treatment of Chongqing Mental Health Association; Project evaluation expert of Chongqing Ministry of Science and Technology. Her research interests include Adolescent mood disorder and suicidality. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related deaths across the world. Due to the lack of reliable markers for early HCC detection, most HCC patients are diagnosed in middle/late stages. Liver cancer stem cells (CSCs), which are drivers of liver tumorigenesis, usually emerge in the early HCC stage and are also termed as liver tumor initiation cells (TIC). Liver CSCs contribute to initiation, propagation, and metastasis of HCC and also play a key role in tumor therapy. Taking advantage of online-available data sets, bioinformatic analyses, and experimental confirmation, here we have screened out PRC1 and RACGAP1 as reliable markers for early HCC detection. PRC1 or RACGAP1 knockdown dramatically inhibited the proliferation, migration, and invasion capacities of HCC cells, conferring PRC1 and RACGAP1 as predominant modulators for HCC propagation and metastasis. Moreover, the sphere formation capacity of HCC cells was impaired after PRC1 knockdown, revealing the function of PRC1 as a modulator for liver CSC self-renewal. Furthermore, the inhibitor of PRC1 had same phenotypes as PRC1 knockdown in HCC cells. Altogether, PRC1 and RACGAP1 are identified both as prognosis markers for early HCC detection and therapeutic targets for liver cancer and liver CSCs, adding additional layers for the early prognosis and therapy of HCC.

Dr. Pingping Zhu got his Ph.D. certificate of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2016, as a joint-training student in the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IBP, CAS). He focused on adult stem cells (ASCs), cancer stem cells (CSCs) and Organoid, and identified several critical modulators in CSC self-renewal. He has published in Several papers in Nat Immunol, Neuron, Nat Cell Biol, Nat Struct Mol Biol, J Clin Invest and Nat Communs.

At present, the total number of various types of bridges in China has exceeded 1.2 million, and the problem of bridge collisions is becoming increasingly prominent. The busy riverside and coastal waterways are busy, the bridges are susceptible to ship collisions; the geological conditions of bridges in mountainous areas are more complex, and they are susceptible to the impact of landslides, mudslides, and falling rocks; vehicle collisions on urban bridges are frequent. These have had a negative impact on the safety of the bridge itself and the driving safety on the bridges. This study uses explicit dynamic analysis software LS-DYNA to study the impact effect and protective measures of bridges, and further considers the impact effect on driving safety through BANSYS software. Specifically, in response to the impact of falling rocks on bridges, the impact effects of falling rocks at different impact speeds and locations on the bridge, the dynamic response of the vehicle bridge system, and the protective performance of flexible steel sheds were considered; to address the issue of ship collision with bridges, calculations and analyses are conducted on the interaction between piers and water, the process of ship collision with bridges, and the interaction between vehicles and bridges. As a result, some useful conclusions were drawn and further considerations for future research on bridge impact disaster prevention and control were proposed.

Dr. Zhanhui Liu works in the School of Civil Engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University now. He is a Supervisor of Master's Candidates, the Overseas High-Level Talents in Sichuan Province, an expert the National Science and Technology Collaborative Innovation Platform, a member of the Chinese Society of Mechanics, the Chinese Society of Vibration Engineering, and the Chinese Society of Architecture. He achieved his PhD in Solid Mechanics from Harbin Institute of Technology in 2015. From 2018 to 2019, the China Scholarship Council provided him with a full scholarship to visit University of Surrey in UK. He has been committed to the theoretical and practical research in the fields of bridge structural dynamics and impact dynamics for a long time. At present, his main research interests are bridge impact mechanism and anti-collision design, human-induced vibration of pedestrian bridges. He has undertaken more than 10 scientific research projects, and has published 20 papers, 2 authorized invention patents. Dr. Zhanhui Liu is teaching "Bridge Engineering", "Cable-supported Bridges" for undergraduate students, and "Conceptual Design and Innovative Design of Bridges" for graduate students. He has published one Chinese book and one English book as deputy editor.

Oil spills pose a serious threat to the ecological environment and human health. When the spilled oil enters seawater, weathering processes such as evaporation, emulsification, sedimentation, biodegradation, photooxidation and dissolution will occur. Weathering processes have high uncertainty and directly affect the spatial distribution and fate of oil spills. Up to now, no stochastic models of weathering process have been developed. This paper presents a stochastic modeling method for weathering process of spilled oil on the sea surface based on dynamic Bayesian network (DBN). The physical equations of evaporation, emulsification, biodegradation, photooxidation and dissolution are converted into DBN, and then all the individual DBNs are integrated to obtain the entire DBN of the weathering process. The developed DBN could intuitively and graphically express the logical relations and conditional probabilities among physical variables. This method is helpful to find out the synergistic influencing mechanism of multi-random variables on the weathering process. Based on the developed DBN model, sensitivity analysis is performed to determine the key parameters affecting each weathering process. Uncertainty analysis is carried out to reveal the possible upper and lower limit values of some physical quantities caused by the weathering process.

Dr. Zengkai Liu received his Ph.D. and BSc in Mechanical Engineering from China University of Petroleum (East China). He is currently an associate professor at Harbin Engineering. After one year’s postdoctoral research in University of Duisburg-Essen (Duisburg, Germany), he worked as a Humboldt Research Fellow with the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon (Geesthchat, Germany). His current research interests include environmental risk assessment, fault prognosis and management and intelligent maintenance. Until now, he has authored and co-authored more than 56 peer-reviewed journal papers. He has published 3 books and obtained 10 Chinese invention patents and 5 international patents. He was the winner of Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers supported by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and Sino-Germany Postdoc Scholarship supported by German Academic Exchange Service and China Scholarship Council. In 2021, he was honored as one of the high-level talents by Qingdao West Coast New Area Government. He was the first-prize winner of the Shandong Science and Technology Progress in 2021. He is a guest editor of Journal of Marine Science and Engineering (SCI, IF: 2.744), Water (SCI, IF: 3.530) and a board member of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He is the program committee chair, technical program committee chair of several international conferences and was invited be the keynote speakers several times. Two-phase loop thermosyphon (TPLT) is one of the most used natural phase-change cycles. It is considered as a low-cost, energy-free, and long-distance heat transfer element. They have been widely used due to their outstanding heat transfer performance to provide solutions for efficient thermal management in precise instruments, buildings, etc. To form a strong support of efficient energy utilization. Recently, the heat transfer capacity of the TPLT has been precisely controlled by actively regulating its two-phase flow heat transfer cycle and thus is creatively upgraded to an active temperature control element. Besides, its advanced coupling with vapor compression cycle has been proposed to enlarge the benefit of renewable energy. The systems show significant advantages in efficiency, operating cost, and carbon emission.

Dr. Jingyu Cao is currently an Associate Professor at the Hunan University, he is also a Vice chief engineer (Temporary) at the Hunan Construction Investment Installation Group Co., LTD. He has been a postdoctoral fellow at City University of Hong Kong and University of Science and Technology of China. Water scarcity and soil salinization are two major problems threatening the sustainability of irrigation districts in arid regions with shallow groundwater table. To study water and salt balances in arid irrigation districts, we developed a monthly distributed water and salt balance model for arid irrigation district (DAHMID-S) with shallow groundwater table by integrating models of major hydrological processes and the associated salt transport processes, including irrigation, evapotranspiration, soil water and groundwater and salt balances, drainage of water and salt through ditches, and interior drainage of water and associated dry drainage of salt between irrigated and non-irrigated lands. The model was successfully applied to the Hetao Irrigation District (HID), the largest irrigation district in arid region of China. Results indicate that evapotranspiration is the dominant water consumption component in the HID and accounts for about 95% of the total irrigation and precipitation, while drainage through ditches accounts for 10.5% of the total irrigation. Only 49.4% of the introduced salt is discharged from HID through drainage ditches. Consequently, most parts of the HID are in the state of salt accumulation except the northern Wulate sub-irrigation district, and the problem of salt accumulation is more serious in the western and southern HID with more favorable water use conditions. Dry drainage plays a crucial role in salt balance of both irrigated and non-irrigated lands, which results in desalinization in most irrigated lands while salt accumulation in non-irrigated lands. Appropriate measures should be taken to solve water and salt-related problems to improve the sustainability of the HID. In the western HID, irrigation water diversion should be decreased, and the drainage system should be further improved to decrease the salt accumulation to a lower level. Meanwhile, the irrigation water diversion can be increased in the southeastern HID by planting more corn and wheat. Besides, Irrigation management should be improved to reduce the surface water return flow to increase the groundwater drainage capacity, especially in the southwestern HID.

Dr. Songhao Shang received his B.S. degree in Hydraulic Engineering in 1993 and Ph.D. degree in Hydraulics and Fluvial Dynamics in 1997 from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. Then he joined the Department of Hydraulic Engineering, Tsinghua University as a lecturer, and is now an associate professor. His main research interests include agricultural hydrology and water resources, arid region hydrology and water resources, and remote sensing applications in hydrology and agriculture. He has been PI or Co-PI of over 30 projects and has published 2 monographs, two textbooks, and over 140 peer-reviewed papers.

Nanoscale biomaterials have aroused great interest owing to their high biocompatibility, easy availability, small size and large specific surface area. Starch as an edible, biosafe, and functional biopolymer, has been tailored at nanoscale to be used as functional additives in wastewater treatment, emulsion stabilizer, packaging component, and the delivery of bioactive guests. Nanostarches fabricated in various morphologies including nanosphere, nanorod, nanoworm, nanovesicle, nanopolyhedron, nanoflake, nanonetwork, etc., enable them to have a high reactive action due to structural particularity and green modification. It improves the bioavailability of bioactive guests by different assembly approaches of carrier/guest surface combination, guest@carrier embedment and nanostarch-mediated encapsulation. Nanostarch-based carriers improve the functionality of bioactives both in-vitro and in-vivo. We focus on the merits of starch empowered by nanoscale for delivery system, based on the assembly strategies and corresponding properties of nanostarch-based carrier. Nanostarch effectively captures bioactives on the surface and/or inside core to form tight complexes, which maintains their stability in the human microenvironment. Targeted release of delivery systems is stimulated by the environment conditions based on the complex structure of nanostarch loaded with bioactives.

Dr. Enbo Xu is an Associate Research Fellow at Zhejiang University, and the sub-dean of Food Science and Nutrition Department. He completed his Ph.D. at Jiangnan University for the study of thermomechanical extrusion technology, and has worked at Purdue University for being engaged in the research of novel biomaterials via mechanical engineering. He focuses on the design of food structure and the development of complex functional foods including starch science, special nutritional probiotics, nanotechnology, extrusion and 3D printing and cell culture meat scaffolds. Polymers with intrinsic microporosity (PIMs) have recently received increasing interest in the fields of gas separation, sensors, catalysts, and so on due to their high microporosity and good solution processibility. However, PIMs with chiral backbones are quite limited, which undoubtedly hindered their applications in many areas such as chiral separation and optoelectronic. Herein, the catalytic enantioselective synthesis of a novel cyclohexyl-fused spirobiindane-based chiral PIM is described. This novel polymer exhibits high intrinsical microporosity (SBET = 796 m² g^-1), solubility, and good film formability. Its macroscopic chirality of twist-bend structure was confirmed by circular dichroism. More interestingly, circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) was observed for the first time in PIMs, also to our best knowledge the first non-conjugated porous CPL polymer, opening the door to explore new research fields of PIM materials, as well as providing new guidance for CPL polymer design.

Dr. Xinbo Wang is the distinguished Qilu professor of School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Shandong University. He has mainly engaged in the research on the structure, performance and application of organic porous materials, and has carried out a series of achievements in the purification of environmental pollutants, capture and utilization of carbon dioxide, upgrading of natural gas, chemical hydrogen storage/desorption, waste heat recovery, etc., with the aim to solve the bottleneck problems in resource recovery and environmental purification materials.

The interaction of light and matter are accompanied by novel physical phenomena, which enables vast photonic tools for bioanalysis. In this talk, I will address how to control the light matter interaction from mico to nano scale by photonic crystal and plasmonic structures for biosensing, biodetection and biomanipulations. It is shown that high sensitive biosensing of molecules and cells could be realized for convenient and rapid point of care testing (POCT). Also, single cell could be manipulated by the photothermal effects of surface plasmons and wide potential biomedical applications are anticipated.

Dr. Xiangwei Zhao is a professor of State Key Laboratory of Bioelectronics, Southeast University. He graduated from Zhejiang University with PhD degree in 2006 and then joined Southeast University. He has been a visiting scholar at Osaka University (2008), Michigan University Ann Arbor (2011), University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (2011) and Harvard University (2013). His research focuses on biomedical detection and analysis, including nanophotonics, spatial transcriptomics, POCT, etc.

In order to adapt to the vegetable and fruit arches planting mode in some areas, to solve the traditional arches rely on manual construction, labor intensity and low efficiency of the problem. We have designed a cuttage and film covering multi-functional machine for low tunnels. It is composed of automatic rod feeding device, double inserting device, film covering device and marching device. The working parameters such as insertion spacing and number of insertion frames are set. Through the walking mechanism to complete the fixed distance walking and auxiliary walking straight function. Automatic rod feeding device is used to achieve automatic feeding of the shed rod. Using double inserting device to complete the work of bending and inserting poles. Automatic mulching operation is realized by the mulching device. The field test shows that the machine operates at a maximum speed of 1.2 km/h. The average accuracy rate of navigation line extraction is 96.2%. The success rate of entering the pole was 94.1%. The success rate of inserting frames was 89.3%. The arch mulching rate was 100%, and the film breakage rate was 1.1%. It effectively improves the working efficiency of the cuttage and film covering multi-functional machine for low tunnels and the stability of arches construction.

Using a corporate-level dataset of Chinese listed companies, we studied the effect of the performance aspiration gap on stock price crash risk and the moderate effect of marketization and political connection. Our results show that: when the actual performance is below aspiration level, the aspiration gap will prompt managers to take risky behaviors and information manipulation behaviors, which will increase the stock price crash risk. In the two types of risky behaviors, the effect of aspiration gap on stock price crash through illegal risky behaviors is greater. The impact of aspiration loss on stock price crash risk is affected by the degree of marketization and political connection. Marketization and political connection negatively moderate the association between aspiration loss and stock price crash risk. When the actual performance is above aspiration level, managers did not have the motivation to adopt or evade the risk-taking behaviors. The aspiration surplus has no significant impact on stock price crash risk. We introduce the performance aspiration gap into the study of stock price crash risk, enriching and expanding the research on the economic consequences of performance aspiration gap and the affecting factors of stock price crash risk, providing a new explanation for our deepen understanding of the stock price crash risk in China's capital market.

The banking system is an important part of the modern financial system and an indispensable financial intermediary for the healthy and stable operation of the entire economic system. This paper extends the dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) model by machine learning, and constructs monetary policy friction index based on financial news. Then, theoretically analyze how the news-driven monetary policy friction affects the non-performance loans of commercial banks. Further, the monetary policy friction volatility spillover network is constructed by GARCH-BEKK model and complex network. Finally, spatial econometric methods are employed to empirically examine the volatility spillover effect of news-driven monetary policy friction on the non-performance loans. The results show that monetary policy friction has a significant positive spatial effect on the non-performing loan of Chinese commercial banks. This means that the government is supposed to increase information transparency in the transmission of monetary policy to reduce information asymmetry.

Zhang Hengguo received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from Sun Yat-sen University and the Ph.D. degree from the Ocean University of China. He was a postdoctoral in Fudan University. Since 2019, he has been a teacher at Shandong University. He has published nearly 10 SSCI and SCI papers in internationally renowned journals. Historical and cultural district is one of the important carriers of urban cultural heritage, which carries the cultural memory of a region's traditional history, and is an important area of the city with great historical connotation and cultural value. Find the problem through the evaluation of the public's perception of the space of historical and cultural district containing the characteristics of the Grand Canal. Analyze the process experience and emotional reaction of people in the districts, and find that the main impression of historical and cultural districts is the sense of history, canal culture, traditional buildings and so on, and the format and cultural characteristics of districts are important factors affecting users' evaluation. Explore the different spatial identity tendencies of space users due to the differences in spatial perception, and put forward the corresponding protection and renewal strategies. It is suggested that the power logic should be taken as the leading factor, the sustainable development of districts should be strengthened, and the composite industrial system should be formed to enhance people's spatial identity of historical and cultural districts.

At present, the Western scholars put forward a theory of international law based on a division of “democracy” and “authoritarian”. We must pay attention to it. An American law professor, Tom Ginsburg’s recent publications on democracy and international law could be taken as an example. Historical Materialism created by Marx and Engles is primarily applied for a domestic society, and also likely for an international society. The international law was originated from Europe as the capitalism rose with a non-theological ideology. The ideology of “civilized nations” was developed in international law as it expanded globally with the West’s capitalism and colonies. It is the contemporary international law under the Charter of United Nations that all sovereign states are equal. It requires removing any discriminative ideology with a character of exclusiveness dividing the states into two blocks. However, the West’s democratic theory of international law tells us that the Cold War relics still remain. It must be criticized by clarifying the principles and rules of contemporary international law under the Charter of United Nations. Meanwhile, we must introduce a new ideology from the Chinese triple perspectives, i.e., the inclusiveness in accordance with the Charter of United Nations, the universality of rule of law at national and international levels under the United Nations’ relevant documents, and the compatibleness of China’s idea to build a Human Community with a Shared Future, and the two initiatives of global security and development.

Dr. Naigen Zhang is a professor of Fudan University Law School. He is the Vice President of the China Society of International Law. His academic visits abroad include Fulbright Research Scholar at Law School of the University of Michigan (USA, 1996-1997) and Georgetown Law Center (USA, 2005-2006), Visiting Professor of Max-Planck Institute of Public Law and International Law (Germany, March-April of 2000).
